It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was composing my
October favourites, but I did do that pretty late in the month, so that’s probably why. However, it’s December, it’s almost Christmas, and your girl is so excited! We’re spending it up north with my family this year and I can’t wait. But before that, let’s get into what I was obsessing over during November (and still am).
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Lovecraft & Saint | £17 |
Debenhams |
If you’re new here, I’m a massive liquid lipstick hoarder, I don’t buy any other lipstick anymore as I’m that dedicated. And the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks are up there with my favourite formula. I find them really comfortable to wear, they’re pigmented, the colour pay-off is there in one swipe, they’re not too drying despite being matte and they last for ages without transferring or fading.
Lovecraft is my perfect colour, it’s a pink mauve that is absolutely everything and a shade I always gravitate towards. Saint came in a
travel duo with a mini perfume and I haven’t stopped wearing it. It’s a pretty peachy rose that complements me skin tone really well. Scroll down to see what it looks like on.
InStyler Max Rotating Iron* | £89.99 | Boots |
When I first received this hair styling tool, I took it out of the packaging almost immediately and used it on my hair. I initially thought it might be a gimmicky so had to test it out, and was very pleasantly surprised. It has a 32mm barrel with a two-way rotating iron and four heat settings, up to 200 degrees. The iron straightens, curls, adds body, volume and shine. The direction the barrel turns depends on what way you want your curls to go, and to change direction you just double-click the brush onto the barrel.
I have used the iron to straighten, curl, add flicks, and volume. It’s really easy to use and it’s pretty light despite it looking quite bulky. Due to the brush side it smooths each strand and my hair feels silky soft. The 32mm barrel means you can achieve loose, bouncy curls that last for days. I like that the tool is multipurpose, has different heat settings and is versatile.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 | £69 |
Space NK |
Have you ever seen a thing more beautiful than this palette? I’ve wanted an Hourglass palette for so long but they’re so damn expensive and I wasn’t prepared to fork out almost seventy quid for it. So, when Space NK had a sale, and I had points to use, I knew exactly what I planned on purchasing. I ended up getting it for under £50 and I’m so glad I did, as it’s perfect.
I won’t lie, I almost nearly didn’t use it because it’s too pretty. I didn’t want to tarnish it’s beauty but I also wanted to use the glorious powders on my face. And, lads, it’s incredible. There’s six shades in the palette, Dim Light, Diffused Light, Hypnotic Strobe Light, Luminous Bronze Light, Surreal Halo and Pure Effect. I use this palette almost everyday. I say ‘almost’ because I don’t wear makeup everyday, but when I do, I use this.
Both Surreal Halo and Pure Effect blushers are beautiful. They have that glowing but not shimmering effect that leaves a healthy look to the cheeks. I also adore Luminous Bronze Light, and I’m not really a bronzer kind of person, it’s so subtle but buildable, and just a really flattering shade. The top three shades I use as finishing powders to highlight and add a much needed glow. They’re no way ‘see me from space’ shades but they add something so the face doesn’t seem flat and matte. The powders are smooth, soft and really easy to work with. And that packaging; rose gold heaven
Hair Cut | £28 | Cutting Edge – Rushden |
A few weeks ago I went and had approximately 6 inches chopped off my locks. I desperately needed it as since I’ve been growing it and not keeping up with regular trims, I had a lot of broken hair. I hadn’t realised how attached I’d got to my long hair because I used to have a pixie cut with one side of my head shaved – so when I had a shit load cut off, I had a bit of a freak out. My stylist, Lydia did an amazing job (as always) and we’d both pinned the same image on Pinterest of the style I wanted. I went for a messy, choppy lob. It’s so much easier to manage, quicker to style and I love it.
That messy wavy hairstyle has been my constant for the last few weeks and it’s so simple to create. I’m going to (hopefully) do a step-by-step, with images, guide on how I do it, very soon. Do you like my new hair?
