I’m pretty loyal when it comes to hair care; I’ll change up my mousse or hairspray on occasion but when I find a shampoo and conditioner that I like, I tend to repurchase that as I know it does the trick. Lately though, I’ve been branching out, and in May I reviewed Lee Stafford’s CoCo LoCo line, you can read that here if you fancy some coconut-scented goodness in your life. However, if you’re a fan of vanilla milkshake, don’t go anywhere – you need to read all about this.
The lovely guys over at milk_shake reached out and asked if I’d like to try some of their products. I admit, I hadn’t heard much about them but was really intrigued, and obviously said yes. As soon as they arrived, I did what I do with all shampoos, and I opened the cap to get a whiff of the scent. Oh my days guys, Oh. My. Days. It smells absolutely incredible. If the sweet milky aroma was anything to go by, I had such high hopes for these products. Think sweet vanilla milkshake. Yes, please, get on my hair.
I was kindly sent an array of travel size products, (I’ve already used the shampoo and conditioner, and repurchased them, so obviously my review is going to be a positive one) including the Color Care shampoo and conditioner, Whipped Cream leave-in foam, Incredible Milk leave-in spray mask and Natural Care active yogurt mask.
milk_shake is a professional hair care brand with products inspired by nature. They use a mixture of ingredients including milk protein that conditions and repairs the hair.
The shampoo and conditioner, I absolutely love. My hair feels soft, silky, and has a gorgeous shine to it. Not only that but it smells amazing. I don’t really suffer with dry hair, but since using these products for almost two months I’ve noticed that my locks are a lot healthier. I’m a huge fan, and it’ll take a lot to knock this shampoo/conditioner combo off my number one spot. For 300 ml, the shampoo retails for £13.29 and the conditioner £14.29.
I was most intrigued by milk_shakes Whipped Cream; I initially thought it would be a mousse but when I used it, it squirted out and felt exactly like whipped cream. It didn’t have a stickiness like some mousses have and it melted into my damp hair seamlessly. This product detangles, moisturises and leaves hair shiny and silky. I always use it when I’m blow-drying my hair straight as it keeps it extra smooth. For 200 ml it costs £15.79 – and it’s totally worth it.
Incredible Milk has won loads of awards and it’s no surprise as it’s a top-quality leave-in conditioner. I’m not really a fan of leave-ins as I find that my hair gets greasy far too quickly, and I’m someone that doesn’t like to wash their hair a lot…not because I’m a filthy cow, it’s just not good to wash it all the time, is it? However, Incredible Milk, is pretty much what it says on the tin. It has 12 benefits for the hair; repairs all hair types, frizz control, prevents split ends, heat protection, long lasting style, it’s detangling, adds shine, adds volume, easier to iron, protects and maintains colour, protects from UV rays, and smooths the cuticle. Does it get much better? Well, yeh, it’s only £6.99. I use this at least once a week and I don’t think I could be without it now.
And finally, drum roll please, the yogurt mask. I bloody love a hair mask, I always feel like my skin gets all the attention so it’s important to let my hair get some love too. This mask is specifically for dry, damaged hair, and although my hair isn’t dry, I do have a lot of split-ends and broken hair, so this nourishes it and helps to strengthen my mane.
I can’t remember loving so many products from one brand, but milk_shake hair is absolutely awesome. I believe my hair is the best part of me and it’s even better now. I should probably stop asking people to sniff my head though, it’s getting some funny looks.
Have you ever tried any milk_shake products?
