As you can tell, I’m a fan of piercings; I now have seven in my left ear. I’ve wanted new piercings for a while, so when my fabulous blogging pal and twin (spiritually we’re totally related) Beth, got her daith pierced, I had to copy. On a less child-like, ‘I want the same as Beth,’ level, I’d wanted my daith and tragus pierced for ages and Beth getting hers, reminded me.
We both suffer from horrible migraines; mine completely incapacitate me, I can’t open my eyes or lie flat on my pillow as the back of my head throbs and feels like it’s being crushed. They’re horrendous, I hate them with a passion.
I’d seen this Migraine Miracle Cure being bandied around various social media sites and my sceptical-little-self didn’t even bother to read up on it because I simply don’t believe a hole in my ear would eradicate my migraines. However, a lot of people have been pierced for this reason alone. My piercer at Base Shade Tattoo told me that there’s been a huge influx of clients specifically requesting the daith piercing as they suffer with headaches/migraines. I thought, ‘if it works, then great, if not, who cares? I wanted it anyway.’
I was pierced two weeks ago and since then have completed a bit of research on the daith piercing. Apparently it imitates the effects of acupuncture as there is a pressure point that runs through the inner cartilage section of the ear. Therefore this piercing is meant to relieve or improve the intensity and regularity of migraines.
I am so glad I read this!
I have been debating to get this done for a while now because I suffer from terrible migraines and saw this on social media. I wasn't feeling comfortable about getting this done but thought if it works I have to have it! So I'm glad you wrote this because I will definitely not be putting myself through this pain now. Thanks for the read!

This is so interesting, I heard the same rumour and didn't think it could possibly be true. I think it's more of a mind over matter thing. Love your piercings!

Hi Sarah,I suffer with skull crushing migraines like you and, i used to have lots of piercings so seeing this interested me. Sorry it's not helped, I think its more chemical tbh but anything is worth a try. Looks cool and I'm sending you a hug for the last 'M' you had babes. i wouldn't mind looking into botox for migraines but need to do more research. Take care!

Well, it didn't work for me x
Thanks, Alexandra. I like piercings so will be keeping it but it's not made a difference, such a shame x
I've heard of this as well.
My daughter has chronic migraine, but does not want the daith piercing.
But, from what I've read, people usually get the piercing on the same side they get pain on.
So, I would think if pain were on both sides, then both sides would need to get pierced.
I get migraines too, but not as bad.
My daughter and I have been recently dealing with other health issues that I have to research and I believe both can have chronic pain.
Dysautonomia is one and Ehlers Danlos is another.
My son has severe Autism and is nonverbal, so I've dealt with his services for 19 years now and trying to find a way for me to get that genetic testing done for Ehlers Danlos is one I'm working on as it sounds expensive.
These agencies I've dealt with for my son should have someone who can help me on their staff – I just have to figure out who.
