I feel like hair products are the thing I will constantly change in search for the perfect combo that make my locks volumised, yet healthy and shiny. I don’t ask for much. At the moment, and for quite a few months (years for some) I’ve been using these non-stop.
I picked this up because my pal, Beth, at Mermaid in Disguise was a fan of the Batiste Stylist range. I’d only ever used their dry shampoo so popped this in my basket as texturising and volumising products are my thing. I really like it because it does exactly what it says on the tin, it adds grit/texture to the hair so it’s much more malleable. After washing my hair, it’s always way too soft to hold a style, but not anymore. Since, I have thick straight hair, I spray it all over and then rub my fingers over my scalp to add volume. After a few hours, I repeat the process without adding any more product and the result is the same. I never apply it before using any curling/straightening tools, always after. For the price, it’s really good and I’ll definitely be repurchasing.
Pretty sure this is my holy grail hair product, I can’t live without it. Not only is the scent absolutely out of this world, seriously, it smells amazing, but it’s frickin’ awesome. I don’t necessarily use it for what it’s intended for. In my opinion, it’s an okay dry shampoo, but it’s a fantastic volumiser. I wear my hair down most days and always add this for a bit of a kick at the roots. I’ve had people ask me what perfume I’m wearing when this baby has been on my head – if only it was a perfume…
Want to smooth down fly-away baby hairs? This is the product for you. It makes your hair look sleek, photoshopped and extremely shiny. I was dubious when I first picked this up as I thought it might make my hair greasy but it doesn’t at all. I like using it when I’m going for the ultra-smooth, straightened, glossy look.
L’Oreal Paris Studio Pro Boost It Volume Mousse | £4.49 | Boots |
I always use mousse in my hair once I’ve washed it and this is my current go-to. I made a massive mistake when I first bought it and sprayed far too much into my hand but it wasn’t a disaster, all was well. This mousse has a different texture to any I’ve tried before, it’s a lot thicker, and non-sticky, which I like as I hate it when they leave a residue on my hands and hair. It definitely adds more volume to my hair than if I wasn’t using it but I like it because it means my hair is easier to style once it’s applied.
Made with soy and wheat protein, this is my favourite lightweight hair spray. It says it provides an ‘extremely firm-hold’ but I’d beg to differ, unless you spray the majority of the can on your head, I guess. Despite that, I love it, I always turn my head upside down and spray to give a messy, fuller look. I also really like the scent, although the boyfriend doesn’t. If you’re after a hair spray with a really strong hold definitely go for the Big Sexy Hair Spray.
This stuff is magic, I’m not even kidding, it’s an absolute lifesaver, time-saver, shoulder-saver. If you’re a Spoonie and hate drying your hair because it takes too long, get this immediately. I didn’t really know what to expect with this product but you spray it into damp/towel dried hair and it completely cuts down the drying process. It’s just magic. As someone who despises drying their hair, this is amazing.
You can either shake this talc-like product into your hand, rub your hands together and apply it to the roots to add volume or put it directly on the roots for ultimate major volume. I’ve done it both ways and I have to say applying it straight to the roots is my preferred way simply because it completely amps up the size of my hair. I like big hair and I cannot lie. You need to jump all over these Schwarzkopf products whilst they’re super cheap at Boots.
I’m a tiny bit obsessed with sea salt sprays. They seem to be all the rage lately, they help give the gloriously flowy beachy waves from the comfort of your own home. Once you spritz this all over your wannabe beachy locks, you scrunch your hair in your hands and either let it dry naturally or use a diffuser. I usually let it dry naturally, because I can’t be arsed messing about changing nozzles on my hairdryer, and well, laziness. As my hair is drying, I spray a bit more of the sea salt spray and continually scrunch. I’m always left with gorgeous waves and I’ve never even left my bedroom. Bonus.
