I hope you all had a great 2015 and 2016 is even better. Sending all the positive vibes.
I thought I’d kick off 2016 by listing a few things that I’m thankful for.
- Ian – My boyfriend is my bearded best friend and I’m extremely grateful for everything he does for me. I’m not the easiest woman in the world to live with and he’s so patient and awesome. He always makes me smile, especially on my high-pain days and I love him lots.
- My family – I don’t get to see my family a lot, as this year I moved from Lancashire to Northamptonshire with my boyfriend; I miss them loads. They’re always really supportive and FaceTime has been a lifeline. I spend a lot of time on the phone to my Mum, or on FaceTime with my 3 year old nephew who drives the iPad around in his Little Tikes car, taking me to various parts of the house. I’m seeing them next weekend and I can’t wait. I love you all – I know you’ll read this, Mum.
- John – We’ve been best friends for about fifteen years (which makes me feel old) and I absolutely love him to death. We live over an hour apart so don’t get to see each other often but talk everyday and always end up in hysterical laughter on the verge of death. He’s always there when I need him and no matter what the situation is, I know he’ll have my back, or give me an alibi. Best bitches to the end! Yaasss.
- Friends – This year I was lucky enough to make a lot of new friends through blogging, the Spoonie community on Twitter and the amazing ladies I met at Stanmore. I’m not going to list any names because I’d be here all day and if I forgot anyone, I’d feel bad, but you know who you are and I’m so thankful for your support, friendship, advice and encouragement.
- Health – Since I had three weeks of Pain Management at Stanmore, I know my body much better and I feel like I can tackle so much more. I’m pacing and planning, which I never did at the beginning of the year and my flare-ups are less often. Forever grateful to my amazing physiotherapists and occupational therapist.
- Writing – I’ve had lots of writing opportunities this year, which is madness and mainly down to my little blog. I started blogging in May and have had over 50,000 visits – mind blown! I was featured on BBC News, as a journalist for the beeb read my post on I’m Disabled and Wear Make Up, So What? and wanted to interview me. I’ve also appeared on Enhance the UK’s blog numerous times, and published a chapter in their book Undressing Disability – go buy a copy 😉
I’m hoping 2016 is just as good, if not better, and I have many more opportunities. Once I’ve got my power chair, I’m definitely attending some blogging events and meeting more fab people. So watch out!
Happy New Year
