I’ve been having a bit of an affair with Tarte Cosmetics lately and although I’ve not worn makeup in a few weeks (combination of crap health and staying at home in my pjs) when I have decided to slap something on, these are the products I’ve been reaching for.
Base
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation – Fair Sand | £30 | Tarte Cosmetics |
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – Fair | £19 | Tarte Cosmetics |
I’d always looked at the Amazonian Clay foundation with apathy, it wasn’t something I needed so I didn’t put it on my ever-growing wish list. However when it was featured in the Maneater collection on QVC I was quite excited to give it a go but didn’t have high hopes. I’m not too sure why, I just hadn’t heard a lot about it and never seen it as anyone’s holy grail foundation so wasn’t expecting much.
I have combination skin, I’m prone to breakouts and I have some dryness, and since this foundation is full coverage and has a satin matte finish, I wasn’t sure how it’d hold up on my scaly bits. Now, Fair Sand is not my colour, but unless it’s ghostly pale, not much is, so I mix this with my white drops from either The Body Shop or Nip+Fab.
Other than it not being my colour, this foundation is so good. I absolutely love it. It’s quite thick in consistency but it blends out like a dream. I can’t say it lasts for twelve hours as I don’t wear makeup for that long but I have worn it for about seven hours and it performed really well. Although it’s full coverage the finish is natural and it’s not heavy on the skin. I’m a fan, and this paired with the Shape Tape concealer is a dream combo.
I included Shape Tape in my May Favourites and you can read that here. It doesn’t crease on me, it covers my horrendously deep dark circles under my eyes and has a soft matte finish. I wish I’d have bought two tubes as my shade is so hard to get hold of and I know I’m going to need to repurchase soon.

Eyes
Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette | £36 | Tarte |
Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Clay Palette | £36 | Tarte |
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara | £19 | Tarte |
The Tartelette palettes are my go-to travel palettes, and when I say travel, I mean when I go and stay at my parents house. They have all the colours I could ever need, are pigmented, blendable and I know I can rely on them. The Tartelette In Bloom packaging is also so beautiful that I love pulling it out of my drawer.
Both palettes have twelve shadows; the original with all matte shades, and In Bloom has nine mattes and three shimmers. I find the shimmer shadows perform better when they are wet and pressed onto the lid with a flat shader brush. Between both palettes you have a decent selection of warm and cool toned colours, and because I love purples, pinks and mattes, I’m all about the OG.
I rarely indulge in expensive mascara because I’ve always found amazing ones on the high street but there was such a hype about Lights, Camera, Lashes that I had to add it to my collection. It’s said to lengthen, curl, volumise and condition the lashes and I can certainly attest to the first three. It’s not an overly wet formula and it doesn’t transfer or weigh the lashes down. It makes my lashes look fluttery and doll-like with no clumping. I’ve already repurchased it twice.
Lips
Tarte The Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lip Gloss – Kind | £19 | Tarte |
I’m not a lip gloss person, I don’t like the feel of it and I wear my hair down so it’s a disaster if I ever decide I fancy a glossy lip – so I can’t say anything about one end of this duo. But the lipstick is stunning. Kind is the perfect mauve shade that is quite deep and I really like how it looks against my fair skin. The lipstick is buttery, opaque in one swipe and really comfortable to wear. It has a satin matte finish and is made with coconut oil, maracuja and vitamin E to keep the lips hydrated, soft and smooth.
As someone that picks liquid lipstick over absolutely everything, I’ve been loving using this and am very impressed with the formula.
I definitely need more Tarte in my life and I really wish they were easier to obtain in the UK. Until then, I’ll scour QVC and hope they make an appearance in a department store very soon.
The packaging on some of these is gorgeous and I'm liking the sound of the foundation too – it's just a shame it doesn't match your skintone without some help
