Luckily you can’t hear me singing like Ariel because I’d probably burst your eardrums, but whenever I see and/or use these Spectrum Collections makeup brushes, I’m suddenly transported to a far-off land and running (ha) with unicorns.

Spectrum brushes have blown up on social media lately and it’s completely justified. They offer excellent quality, cruelty free, vegan, cute, colourful brushes that are really affordable. Think mermaids, unicorns, marble – all the ‘in’ trends; Spectrum create brushes and accessories that will satisfy any makeup lover.

The dolls over at Spectrum sent me the 10 piece ‘Attention Seeker’ Essential Set to test out, and as soon as they arrived I photographed them (I was very eager) and used them to apply my makeup. Not only are they extremely pretty to look at but the bristles are incredibly soft. The 10 piece set retails for £39.99, which works out as £3.99 per brush. Yep, you read that correctly.

The ‘Attention Seeker’ set consists of four base brushes, five eye brushes and a lip brush. It’s so versatile and you can easily apply a full face of makeup with this pink and blue collection.

A01 – Large Domed Powder
B01 – Flat Top Buffer
A05 – Small Angled Blush
B03 – Buffing Concealer
A06 – Large Fluffy Shader
B06 – Tall Tapered Blender
B04 – Small Angled Blender
A09 – Angled Eyeliner
A15 – Lip

Just look at that large powder brush, you can almost see the fluffiness of it in the above image! Spectrum uses high quality synthetic hair which is silky soft. There’s no scratchy nastiness with these glorious unicorn brushes. Imagine applying your makeup with one of those teddy bear fleeces – that’s how silky these brushes are. I couldn’t really believe it, but they’re so velvety, and I love them to apply my makeup.
I’m having a bit of a love affair with the A05 blush brush. I’ve used a Mac 168 for years and didn’t think I’d ever use anything else but this has came along and knocked my 168 to the back of my drawer. It picks up just enough product to add colour to the cheeks and is soft enough to blend back and into the skin. I just love it.
I’m also a huge fan of the B06 and A06 eye brushes. The B06 is great to use in the crease for transitional colours and blends out a smokey eye effortlessly. Meanwhile the A06 is the ultimate lid packing brush; it picks up a lot of product since it’s fairly dense and covers the whole lid very quickly due to its size.
Last week I washed my set for the first time since using them and there was no shedding, no misshapen bristles and they’re still as soft as ever. They definitely are magical.
If you’re looking for a new set of makeup brushes, I’d highly recommend Spectrum Collections; they’re great quality and super cute. Instagrammable brush goals for sure.
