I absolutely love makeup – no shock there, but when I’ve applied it, been out for however long (mostly for an hour) and come home, the first thing I do is get in my pyjamas and take my makeup off. I’m not planning on going elsewhere, I’m in for the night and I want to relax – so the face needs to be removed. Yeah, I love makeup but I also love taking it off.
Throughout the years I’ve used various products to remove all the products I apply to my face. I spent years just using wipes and now they’re only used if I’m in so much pain I can’t sit over the sink (I have a perching stool in my bathroom) or to fix any makeup mistakes. I’ve used micellar water from various brands, different oils and removers, and I can quite easily say that I’m a huge fan of Dermalogica Precleanse.
Dermalogica Precleanse (150 ml) | £31.10 | Pure Beauty |
I know you’re probably looking at that price and thinking, ‘holy shit, Sarah, are you having a laugh?’ But Dermalogica is a luxury skincare brand and everything I’ve used by them I’ve really liked. They just ooze quality. I remember the first time I had a Dermalogica facial, it was fabulous.
Anyway, Precleanse is exactly what it says on the bottle, it removes your makeup and prepares your skin for your actual cleanser. It is a deep-cleansing oil which melts away your makeup and any impurities on the skin. It easily tackles and removes any waterproof products, sunscreen or excess sebum on the skin, and is gentle enough to use on the eyes for waterproof mascara – and it actually works a bloody treat with a smokey eye. Precleanse is made up of Borage Seed, Kukui and Apricot oils. You simply apply the oil to the skin and massage, you can see how quickly it begins melting off anything you have on your face. I always end up looking like the Joker because I smear my lipstick all over my face. Then you add water and this turns the formula into a milky emulsion that rinses easily. It’s so quick, simple and gentle on the skin.
I then go in with whatever cleanser I’m using as I always double-cleanse when I’ve worn makeup because I feel like my skin is a lot cleaner.
If you have any stubborn, dark products that are tough to remove it’ll be effortless with Dermalogica Precleanse. My gel eyeliner usually takes a lot of scrubbing and I don’t like doing that to the delicate skin around my eyes but a simple rub with Precleanse and it’s gone, no more waking up the next morning looking like a panda. My skin feels so soft and clean after removing my makeup with Precleanse and I’m pretty much sold on how amazing it is. If you’re willing to pay a bit more for a fantastic makeup remover – you need this!
