I’m always very honest and open on my little corner of the internet, and in odd posts I give away snippets of my life, but I haven’t written an update in quite some time. Alas, all that is about to change.
Health
I’ve been in a flare for quite a few weeks and not only is it really getting me down and hurting a lot, but it’s pissing me off. I haven’t been out, I’m unable to take blog pictures, I can’t hold my phone – I know, #FirstWorldProblems or what? Seriously though, this pain is something completely new, I’ve never experienced anything like it before and I need it to just sod off now. I have nerve damage as well as my long list of other conditions but the nerves in my left arm have been so bad that I can’t bend my arm, touch my elbow or even wear clothing on it. Then it’s affecting everything; I can’t grip, I can’t have my arm in any sort of comfortable position, and I’ve been randomly screaming out in pain. It’s also impacting my wrist, hand and fingers too, so that’s a whole lot of fun. Numbness, pins and needles, burning, stabbing, just horrible, horrible pain that has left me in tears most nights.
The earliest I can see my GP is May 25th so I’m counting down the days. I’ve had an emergency appointment but was told to take medication I already have. I’m really not the biggest fan of chronic life at the moment.
Then on Sunday I have an MRI of my brain. I’ve had multiple MRI scans and a few brain scans but they still fill me with dread. I’m very claustrophobic and I’m really not looking forward to it. I’m not going into details as to why I’m having the scan just yet but will obviously update once the results are in. And no, they’re not checking for a brain, I can assure you, I’ve heard that joke plenty of times and it’ll never be funny.
I also have an appointment with a new gastroenterologist this month, and my neuro based in London. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have all these hospital visits? *eye roll*
Blog and Social Media
My blog turned 2. I failed massively and didn’t realise it was so early on in May that I started my blog, so thought I had time to sort out a two year giveaway, but yeh, that didn’t happen. However, fear not, it will happen. I promise.
I added a new page to my top tab thingy (I’m so technical, I know), called In The Press. Go take a look at it and let me know what you think. I’ll obviously be keeping that updated as more things happen.
Speaking of ‘the press’; last month I was featured in Refinery 29’s ‘The Most Inspiring Beauty Bloggers You Need To Follow‘. I thought my Instagram was malfunctioning because I had over 400 followers in a day, a few weeks ago but I received a few emails and DM’s letting me know that I was only bloody mentioned in Refinery 29, and on their Snapchat. I couldn’t believe it, I was (and still am) incredibly shocked that they even knew who I am. Such an honour and so thankful.
I also hit 5,000 followers on Instagram, I never thought that would happen since IG is playing everyone lately. But I got there and I’m currently running a giveaway, so please be sure to check that out. I’ve changed up my Insta ‘theme’ too (I always feel a bit like a pretentious dick when I say I have a theme, I don’t know why) and I’m really loving my pics so much more than I was. I’m just really glad I took a bulk lot when my arm wasn’t being a little a shit.
My short film I made with Know Division launched on Wednesday. I’m really happy with it and you can watch it here. I spent a whole day filming for one minute of footage but it was worth it as it’s turned out really well. A caption they used was ‘this blogger is changing the way we think about disability,’ and I thought that was really cool, and it’s exactly what I’m trying to achieve.
I’ve also received an email that left me screaming in excitement; Urban Decay want to work with me. Yes, URBAN DECAY! One of my all time favourite beauty brands actually knows who I am and emailed me, such a surreal thing for a little blogger like me.
I’ve worked with some really great brands these last few weeks and am feeling extremely grateful.

My family are coming to visit at the end of the month for three nights. Prepare yourselves for lots of #LittleManLife tweets and pics of my 4yo nephew. I’ve not seen him or my parents since March so I can’t wait to spend a long weekend with them.
I won a £15 Just Eat voucher. I don’t think that needs more explanation, I’m going to be ordering free pizza this weekend. Bonus.
If you don’t follow me on Twitter you won’t know the dreaded housing situation. But to cut things very short, my boyfriend and I are planning on moving back up north to be closer to my family, since I NEED an accessible property, we’ve applied through the council. There’s been a few cock-ups and our application is being reviewed, after being told they wouldn’t, so that’s amazing. Keep everything crossed that the appeal goes our way.
So sorry to hear about your arm lovely, i know with chronic illness its always something new that bites us on the bum. Good luck with your MRI, i've had a few and I think a fave cd to play in those headphones, plus deep slow breaths helps. Fab work on Insta, I noticed recently you're doing so well..I find it hard to grow organically but hey ho, I'll get there one day!
Hugs, H x
Thank you so much x
Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly with the local council for your move. So sorry that you're in so much pain right now. All the love xx
Thank you, sweetheart x
Goodness you sure have a lot going on!! I can't believe that they're making you wait that long for a doctor's appointment. You're obviously in a lot of pain and need help 🙁 I love the NHS and wish we'd do something like it back home but I hate when I hear people are having to wait.
Ooh that's so exciting that they're reviewing your application!! Everything crossed for you. Any idea why they'd refuse in the first place??
Also- I wanna say congrats and well done on also mentioning and focusing on the positives. I'm so happy for you 😊
Oh gosh – so sorry you've been in so much pain recently 🙁 I hope things start to improve for you soon! And I hope the appeal goes your way too – these things are sent to test us!! http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk
Ahhhh thank you!!! I love the NHS too, my surgery is just bloody ridiculous. I can get an emergency appt on the day but it's with a nurse and they usually tell me I need to see a doctor 🙄
Basically their doctor on staff said I only needed one room, no idea why he overruled everything x
Thank you so much sweetie x
