I realise we’re two weeks into 2018 but I’ve not had the best start to the year and my little Wonderland has been put on hold, so I’m showing off my yearly faves a tad late. Forgive me…Or don’t, I’ve hit publish anyway *winks*
It didn’t take me long to pick out my favourites for the year; in fact, I’d say it took me a whole eleven seconds as so many products stood out for me last year. However, I did have a Sarah moment and left out one of my absolute faves, so I’ve added it anyway, it’s just not in the pictures.
FRAGRANCE
Lancome La Vie Est Belle – 50 ml EDP | £69 | Escentual |
This fragrance was in my 2016 favourites too and only now have I realised that but hey ho, I bloody love it so it deserves its place right there. If you’ve not tested this out, I highly recommend it, it’s such a sexy scent that lasts for ages. More about it here.
FACE
The Ordinary Serum Foundation – 1.0N | £5.70 | Deciem |
I’m on my second bottle of this foundation because I love it so much. It has medium coverage, is lightweight and applies effortlessly. Plus, it’s under six quid. If you haven’t already tried either of the foundations from The Ordinary, sort it out. Full review here.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer – Chantilly | £24 | Nars |
I use this under my eyes and to cover any blemishes or redness. You’d think it’d crease under my eyes but I kid you not, this little baby does not sink into fine lines or go cakey. It’s really long-wearing, oil free and non-drying. Plus, a little goes a really long way.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 | £69 | Space NK |
Do you hear those angels sing? I’m so obsessed with this palette it’s a bit weird. I use it every time I do my makeup (granted that’s not a lot but still…) because it’s just pure perfection. The blushers and bronzer are so natural and work really well with my corpse fair skin. It’s beautiful and I’m glad I got my hands on it. Longer review right here.
Iconic London Illuminator – Shine | £30 | Iconic London |
I’d seen these highlighter drops all over Instagram and constantly lusted after them but was apprehensive of the price. So, when they had a sale, I bit the bullet and bought Shine, the pearly pink shade and haven’t looked back. You only need the smallest amount to be seen from space, they last ALL day, and the pigmentation is incredible. They’re a total must-have if you love to glow.
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator – Charming Pink | £21 | Debenhams |
This is definitely my most worn highlighter of the year. It’s the perfect soft pearl glow that looks so pretty on my pale face. There’s no glitter in sight, it’s buildable and has great lasting power. Need to know more? Click here.
Glossier Cloud Paint – Puff | £15 | Glossier |
I have both Puff and Beam, and they’re both really pretty. I love how these Glossier liquid blushers melt into the skin and leave a natural looking flush to the cheeks that is buildable. Beware not to use too much though, it can get clown looking pretty fast if you go in with a heavy hand *coughs* Yes, I have firsthand experience. More on Glossier here.
Benefit Galifornia Blush | £24.50 | Benefit |
Galifornia was the only blusher on my cheeks for quite a few months and I need to pull it back out because it’s such a stunning colour. It adds a golden, pink flush to the face that is incredibly flattering and wearable. Swatch it, you might need it too.
EYES
Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts Palette | £45 | Beauty Bay |
This palette was originally limited edition and I was fuming that I missed it but it was added to Coloured Raine’s permanent line this year and I made sure I got it. It contains twelve shadows, with a mix of matte, shimmer and glitters that scream Autumn. The shadows are extremely pigmented, have a really nice buttery texture and are quite easy to work with. It’s a stunner.
Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palette – Matte | £24 | Smashbox |
Give me all the mattes and all the cool tones, yes please. Not only do I love how compact this palette is, but I love how opaque and velvety the shadows are. It’s a great everyday palette but versatile enough to get a few different looks out of. There’s more on Smashbox here.
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow | £24 | Stila |
I managed to pick up one of the Christmas Holiday sets that contained six mini shades of the most coveted product of 2017. I’ve probably only worn them over the last month of the year but they had to go in my favourites because the hype is real, my friends. I’ve got quite sensitive eyes so didn’t think I’d get on with these liquid shadows but they’re really lightweight and didn’t irritate me at all. And that shine…Oh my days, it’s so beautiful. There is some fallout with them so I pack them on top of a glue but other than that, they’re stunning.
L’Oreal Paris Paradise Mascara | £11.99 | Boots |
Last year I featured the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara in my yearly faves and this year, I’m sharing it’s little, slightly cheaper but just as awesome, sister. It makes the lashes fluffy, it separates, adds volume, length and holds a curl. It also dries really quickly and doesn’t transfer or flake off during the day. Definitely put it on your wish list if you haven’t tried it.
Glossier Boy Brow – Brown | £14 | Glossier |
Pretty sure I brush my brows more often than I brush my hair, and why wouldn’t I when I have this awesome little product!? If you want to add colour to your brows and keep them in place, you need this. I like a fluffier, natural eyebrow and this helps me achieve that effortlessly.
LIPS
Dose of Colors Matte Lipstick – Campfire | £16 | Beauty Bay |
My DOC liquid lipstick collection is forever growing and I’m all about it. I love the formula, I love the shade range, and I love how they wear. Everything you want in a liquid lipstick you get with DOC. This colour in Campfire is so unique, it’s a deep terracotta that I didn’t know I needed in my life until I had it. There’s more on it, here.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Lovecraft | £17 | Debenhams |
Kat Von D liquid lipsticks are another one of my favourite formulas (I know I say that a lot, but I have a top 4), they’re so pigmented, they dry down quickly, don’t transfer or bleed and are comfortable to wear. Lovecraft is a gorgeous mauve pink that is a shade I always gravitate towards and I can’t get enough of. I can’t recommend this formula enough, get on it.
Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick | £19 | Smashbox |
I’m actually quite annoyed that I forgot to add my Smashbox liquid lippies in the above pictures but they need a special shoutout because they’re one of my all-time favourite formulas that I discovered this year. I have about six colours now but Babe Alert and Dream Huge are easily my most worn. They’re really opaque with one swipe, comfortable, non-transferring and matte af. I bloody love them. If you’re a liquid lipstick lover like me, you need to try these.
Some great picks! My fsves have to be that coloured rain palette oh and obvs the hourglass one. Ive been living the paradise mascara too xx
I loved reading this, I'm such a massive fan of the Stila Glitter + Glow eyeshadows xxx
