I feel like I was only complaining that January lasted for fifteen years a few weeks ago but we’re already in May, what the hell? Unlike my one brand favourites last month (it was all Becca Cosmetics if you fancy checking it out), I tried out quite a few new products in April and I could have added quite a few others in here but I like picking five for some reason.
Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm* | £14.99 | Naturisimo |
Antipodes has taken over my skincare routine lately and I have a whole post dedicated to it coming very soon, but I needed to share this Saviour balm with you now as it’s a little bit special. Multi-use balms are one of my favourite things, I have way too many of them and am always applying them somewhere. This is my go-to lip balm at the moment; it’s a deep conditioning, emollient formula that can be used on face, lips and body. It’s suitable for all skin types and helps treat grazes, burns, chapped, cracked and dry skin. I have a feeling I’ll get a lot of use out of this during the warmer months…if they ever make an appearance.
SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush* | £17 | Amazon |
I love a cleansing cloth, pad, cream, anything. I’ve tried both the Clarisonic and Magnitone cleansing brushes but was eager to try this one as their is no brush head that needs changing every three months like the other two. I use my silicone brush every morning, and often of an evening if I have worn makeup that day. The silicone bristles not only clean the face, they exfoliate and massage. I really like how gentle it is on the skin, and unlike the other two brushes I have tried, there’s no chance of pressing too hard and aggravating sensitive skin. It is waterproof, has an auto-shutdown and is charged via USB. I’m a fan and so is my face.
Maybelline Temptation Mascara | £8.99 | Superdrug |
I haven’t worn another mascara since owning this Maybelline one. It is really black, adds a lot of volume, doesn’t transfer or smudge. The formula isn’t overly wet and it separates the lashes evenly. It is meant to add ‘ultimate length’ and I’d dispute that but it does add a bit of length. It does however hold a curl and I really like the shape and size of the wand. The product is enriched with coconut to condition and nourish the lashes. I love high street mascaras and this is up there with my faves. I would definitely repurchase it.
L’Oreal Infallible Foundation Stick – Ivory | £8.99 | Superdrug |
First off, this is the first foundation stick I have ever used and I am really impressed. It is a buildable coverage foundation that melts into the skin and has a demi-matte finish; it claims to be matte but I find it leaves the skin looking very natural. It’s also really easy to use, as I have pretty shitty hands that don’t always like to work, I love that I can simply swipe this on my face, blend and go. I do, however, have to add a few lightening drops because the lightest shade is not fair enough for Casper over here. My other makeup lays on top of it effortlessly and it doesn’t budge when blending out my contour or blush. The foundation wears really nicely on me through the day, I can’t attest to 24 hour wear because I don’t sleep in my makeup but after eight hours, I only have to blot my nose and it still looks great. It only comes in twelve shades, which is ridiculous as there’s hardly any deeper colours, so that needs fixing.
Chloe Nomade EDP | £73.80 | Debenhams |
I got a sample of this in my Elle magazine and I instantly loved it. It’s very rare that I spray a perfume and like it straight away, they tend to grow on me but Chloe Nomade had me hooked immediately. I went through the sample pretty quickly and decided I was treating myself to the full-size bottle, and I’m so glad I did. The notes include Mirabelle plum, freesia and oak moss. To me, it’s a very woody, sexy scent; it’s a sophisticated and classy fragrance. The perfume lingers all day and I can smell it on clothing days after I’ve sprayed it. It’s so beautiful – definitely go give it a sniff.
