I absolutely love an accessory. Before I got ‘back into fashion’ I had a Vans backpack I used all the time and a little cross-body to hold my purse and keys in. I wasn’t too bothered about accessorising until my love for fashion reignited. Back in the day, before I lost my confidence, I remember having a wardrobe full of bags, I had so many, it was pretty ridiculous…and although I don’t think I’ll ever be that wild, I do have quite a few and I absolutely love these from Mia Tui*.
I picked the Megan cross-body bag* and the Sydney backpack*. I love wearing a small bag when I go out in my powerchair because it means I can keep my valuables close to me and easy to get to. It usually holds my purse, keys, phone and medication for the day.
I found when I wore bigger bags they exacerbated my pain because I was trying to balance them on my thighs, thus tensing my thigh muscles and it becoming too uncomfortable. I also didn’t need everything I was carrying around close to hand and having so much in the bag injured my shoulder. So swapping to a smaller bag really helped my pain and just made so much more sense.
I never leave the house without a backpack and I absolutely love my berry Sydney backpack*. It is such a good size and stores everything I need. It’s waterproof, lightweight and comes with two compartments, as well as a smaller zipped pocket. There is also two side pockets that are great for holding drinks in. The main compartment has a padded laptop section with a clear, removable accessory bag. It has an insulated bottle holder, key clip, phone and pen holder. The second compartment is also fully insulated. The backpack has been so well made and the design so clever because there is a place for everything you could possibly want to carry.
The berry colour is so striking and looks gorgeous on the back of my powerchair. I use it for shopping and put everything I buy in the large section. It also holds my medication, hairbrush, a canvas bag (because your girl likes to shop), an umbrella and a few other essentials.
